HABITS OF THE OVERFLOW

Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

One of the most profound truths in the Old Testament is found in this verse. We don’t just become who we are overnight. Like sedimentary rocks that form gradually through the accumulation and solidification of tiny particles, our lives are shaped by the habits we repeatedly practice — whether consciously or unconsciously.

In our scripture today, Joshua was about to take over from Moses as the leader of Israel. God Himself spoke directly to Joshua, giving him instructions for success. His goal was to form Joshua — to make him effective, efficient, and successful. The key instruction was simple yet powerful: study continually.

Joshua obeyed, and his success was remarkable. He led the Israelites into the Promised Land, playing a vital role in fulfilling God’s promise to Abraham.

As believers, God desires the same for us. Just as He equipped Joshua, He wants us to experience great success — but it begins with the Word. The blessings of God were already upon the Israelites, yet the first generation couldn’t enter the promise. The grace of God was there, overflowing for forty years, but only Joshua keyed into it through understanding God’s Word and will. His victory was rooted in revelation.

So, like Joshua, let us make it a daily habit to study and obey God’s Word. Do it consistently until it becomes a part of you. That’s how you step into the overflow of the promises written about you in the volume of the Book.

May the grace of Jesus sustain you as you diligently walk in this, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

You’re favoured!

You’re preserved!

We love you!

God bless you!
