It’s Another Love Wednesday!
And today, we are looking at the scripture that says, “It is to one’s glory to overlook an offence.” – Proverbs 19:11
Offences are inevitable. In our daily interactions, people will wrong us—some unintentionally, others deliberately. But how we respond to offense determines the condition of our hearts. The world teaches retaliation, but scripture tells us that true glory is found in overlooking an offence.
Imagine if God counted every wrong we have done against us. Where would we be? Yet, His mercy prevails, and He calls us to extend the same grace to others. Joseph had every reason to hold a grudge against his brothers, yet he chose forgiveness over vengeance. His ability to overlook their betrayal positioned him for greatness.
Jesus Himself modelled this when He prayed on the cross, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34). This is the ultimate example of mercy in the face of deep offence. If our Lord could extend such grace, shouldn’t we strive to do the same in our relationships?
Overlooking an offence doesn’t mean excusing wrongdoing; it means choosing peace over bitterness, love over resentment, and mercy over judgment. It frees us from the weight of unforgiveness and aligns us with the heart of God.
So today, as we walk in love, let us ask ABBA for the grace to see beyond offences and embrace the glory that comes with letting go. May His mercy overflow in our hearts and empower us to extend it to others.
You are favoured!
You are preserved!
We love you!
God bless you!!
Amen. Timely word for the season.
