Love Wednesday: Fruit Bearing &Discipleship

.
.

We’ve entered into a season where the Lord is calling us not only to walk with Him but to grow deeper in Him. At the heart of this journey is discipleship—the commitment to follow Jesus closely, learn from Him, and become more like Him

But true discipleship doesn’t end with following—it overflows into fruit-bearing.

Jesus said in John 15:8 (NKJV):“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”

This statement reveals something profound: that bearing fruit is the proof of discipleship, and the absence of fruitfulness may be the sign of a disconnected heart.

What is fruit? It’s more than just good works. Fruit is the visible expression of Christ’s life within us. It shows up in our love, patience, kindness, humility, consistency, and how we respond in trials. It reflects the presence of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and points others to the reality of Jesus in our lives.

Yet fruit doesn’t grow overnight. It takes abiding and dwelling in the Vine, Jesus Himself.

Discipleship requires abiding, pruning, and perseverance.

  • Abiding means staying connected to Christ in prayer, the Word, and fellowship.

  • Pruning means submitting to the discipline and leading of the Father, even when it’s uncomfortable.

  • Perseverance means choosing to stay when it’s easier to give up, to continue when growth seems slow.

Jesus never promised that this journey would be easy but He did promise that it would be worth it. The reward for a fruitful life is not only in heaven but here on earth, where your life becomes a seed for others, and your walk becomes a testimony that glorifies the Father.

As you go through this week, ask yourself:

  • Am I following Jesus or just familiar with Him?

  • What fruit is my life bearing?

  • Am I rooted in Him, or trying to grow in my own strength?

Beloved, may we be disciples who don’t just carry His name but carry His heart, His habits, and His fruit. May our lives show forth the beauty of Christ through our obedience, faith, and love.
